This event traditionally selects the top U15-U19 soccer teams from around the country and is annually one of the most attended tournaments in the country. It also is one of the best avenues for potential college athletes to expose themselves to college coaches with over 350 college coaches in attendace.
The U17 Girls team had an excellent showing, with multiple players attracting attention from college coaches.
The U15 Boys Black team led by the staff of Adam Allee, Eric Dutt & Rich Weber secured the club’s first ever CASL Championship at the event. They went undefeated in competing against teams from Richmond, VA, Knoxville, TN and Raleigh, NC in securing the championship. This included a thrilling final match victory over the CASL/Raleigh team in which they scored a goal in the final ten seconds to secure the win.
The U16 Boys Black team coached by Noah Braun also achieved great success and narrowly missed securing their championship by a single goal as a tie breaker in their division. The U17 Boys Black coached by Reg Monsanto and U18 Boys Black coached by Micah Clukey also had great success on the field, but even more success in exposing their players to the numerous college coaches in attendance at the matches. For these older team’s matches, there were oftentimes 25-30 college coaches in attendance with many players laying the foundation to begin communication with these coaches and build a future towards advancing to playing at the collegiate level.
Players, staff and family members were also exposed to great college campus tours of programs at the University of North Carolina, Duke University and Wake Forrest. Additionally, they were able to attend the NCAA, Division I Men’s Soccer Championship/College Cup playoff match between the University of North Carolina and St. Mary’s.
